ESK BIOCHEM RECALLS HAND SANITIZER DUE TO POTENTIAL HEALTH HAZARD
ESK BIOCHEM SA de CV of Mexico is recalling all Hand Sanitizer products manufactured by the company due to the discovery of Methanol in some gel hand sanitizers. Methanol has the potential to produce toxic effects to humans when absorbed through the skin or ingested and should not have been used in the manufacturing of ESK Biochem Hand Sanitizer products.
It is regrettable that hand sanitizer products manufactured by ESK Biochem have potentially put consumers at risk. The company is investigating its production and manufacturing processes including the suppliers of the active ingredients used to manufacturer its hand sanitizer product lines:
Hand sanitizer products that may contain Methanol and should not be used including the following:
IMPORTANT: UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD ANY OF THE ESK BIOCHEM HAND SANITIZER PRODUCTS LISTED BELOW, OR ANY HAND SANITIZER PRODUCT BE CONSUMED, INGESTED, DRANK, OR TAKEN ORALLY.
The ESKBiochem hand sanitizers manufactured under the following brands should be immediately discarded in a safe, environmentally responsible manner.

- CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 75% Alcohol (NDC CODE: 74589-008-04)
- CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 80% Alcohol (NDC CODE: 74589-005-03)
- CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 75% Alcohol (NDC CODE: 74589-009-01)
- CleanCare NoGerm Advanced Hand Sanitizer 80% Alcohol (NDC CODE: 74589-003-01)
- Esk Biochem Hand Sanitizer (NDC CODE: 74589-007-01)
- Lavar 70 Gel Hand Sanitizer (NDC CODE: 74589-006-01)
- PUREGELL Advanced Hand Sanitizer (NDC CODE: 21749-03)
- Saniderm Advanced Hand Sanitizer (NDC CODE: 74589-001-01)
- The Good Gel Antibacterial Gel Hand Sanitizer (NDC CODE: 74589-010-10)
ESK Biochem is committed to producing the highest quality consumer products and considers the health and safety of its customers, the general public, and its employees its highest priority. The company will continue to work with its distribution partners, retail outlets and public health agencies in Mexico and the United States, to remove the potentially harmful hand sanitizers from retail shelves as quickly as possible. Future production of ESK Biochem hand sanitizer products will include certified active ingredients, including Ethyl and Isopropyl alcohol along with independent 3rd party quality and control testing. ESK Biochem will also work to strengthen its sourcing policies and require all ingredients and suppliers to comply with stringent testing and certification processes that will ensure only the highest quality ingredients enter the company’s production processes.
The company deeply regrets any loss of trust that this incident may have caused and will work diligently to restore the trust of consumers in the United States and Mexico as it releases new products in the coming months.
